Our electro oxidation industrial Systems:
Type 1 and Type 2

Magneli Materials supplies two types of equipment for industrial electro oxidation systems.  These industrial systems are used in treatment of waste water, PFAS removal, as well as water disinfection. Magneli Materials also supplies lab scale systems, which incorporates an industrial anode in the system.   This allows for treatability studies, and estimation of cap ex and operational expense prior to going to a pilot system.

Lets look at the differences for each one and when you should choose one over another.

System 1:

This system is made from a combination of polypropylene reactors that contain 7 anodes and cathodes. Each of the reactors shown below contain these anodes and cathodes.

This system can handle typical heat generated by the electro chemical process. 


Removes PFAS from Water.

Disinfects water for drinking at water treatment plants.

Removes Nitrogen from waste treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Electro Chemical Systems

How long does it take from order to delivery of system?

The systems are custom made to specification of the client and typically take between 6-9 months to manufacture and deliver. 

What's the perfect space for a system?

Lab scale testing determines the size of the system needed.  In many cases, we go from lab scale to pilot scale to confirm results of the treatment, prior to building a full scale system.


The eventual size of the system is dependent on the functionality required. So the processing power and the needed flow rate will determine how many anodes / cathodes are needed to create the system. So size and space required  will vary depending on that. Ventilation is required above the system in some cases.  This will be discussed as part of our proposal process.

How long do the ceramic Ti4o7 anodes last in commercial operation?

We have done an industry standard accelerated life test of the anodes and they lasted over 110 hours, which equates to well over 10 years. We have also been operating industrial systems for 4 years with no passivation of any of the  anodes.

What is the operating expense of these anodes, and how much power do they need?

While working with our clients initially, we use a lab scale system to determine operating expenses  before they go to a pilot or full scale systems. This process allows our customers to budget for both the operating and capital expenditure.

Do these anode membranes foul?

The oxidation process on the surface of the anodes  prevents fouling, allowing them to continue their role uninterrupted.. However, as an extra precaution, before  beginning the treatment with our systems, we recommend a 5-micro filtering.
